ARC Review: A Wedding at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer

A Wedding at Two Love Lane
Author: Kieran Kramer
Series: Two Love Lane (Book 2)
Publication: St. Martin's Paperbacks (January 2, 2018)

Description: Never say never when it comes to love.

Greer Jones has made a real name for herself at the elegant matchmaking agency Two Love Lane. For a lot of reasons—including a past engagement she broke off—practical tech expert Greer is more interested in the business of love than the experience of it, but she can’t help but covet a gorgeous wedding gown that’s the prize in an upcoming cocktail-party contest. In a moment of brazen inspiration, Greer asks a handsome Brit she’s only just met to accompany her to the party. He agrees—and Greer believes her date is a starving artist. Little does she know the truth. . .

Ford Smith, as he calls himself, is actually Stanford Elliott Wentworth Smythe, the Eighth Baron of Wickshire. Fresh off a breakup with a money-grubbing siren who deceived him all the way to the altar, Ford has no desire to fall in love—especially with Greer who, like the desired wedding gown, is beautiful but only skin-deep. But soon Ford realizes that there’s more to Greer than meets the eye. Her professionalism is matched only by her passion for life and love. . .and, best of all, she has no idea that he’s to the manor born. Could it be that true love is priceless after all?

My Thoughts: This romance was an entertaining story. Greer works for a matchmaker agency in Charleston, SC. She is the computer wiz and is logical, practical, and down to earth. At least she was until she stopped in at a charity auction and fell in love with a wedding gown with a history. She bid for it but lost to a failed matchmaking client who has been carrying a grudge against Greer since the agency failed to find a match for him.

Sitting next to Greer at the auction is this British dude in a plaid jacket who catches her attention. Ford Smith is an artist who has come to Charleston to get over a broken heart since his fiance was caught cheating just before they could walk down the aisle. Ford is also an artist who needs one more painting for an upcoming show that could jump his career to a new level. Ford is hiding the fact that his is a wealthy Baron from everyone. He takes one look at Greer and decides that she will be the perfect subject for his painting.

When Pierre Simmons, the failed client and owner of a fashionable women's clothing store, decides to run a contest to gain publicity for his new bridal department, Greer decides to enter. She doesn't have a boyfriend, let alone a fiance, but the rules don't say she has to have one. However, to win any of Pierre's challenges, she needs a partner. Greer asks Ford to be her partner and she will pose for him in exchange. They grow closer as they take part in the challenges but neither is looking for a romance. Ford has his broken engagement and a ex-fiance who is pregnant with twins who might be Ford's children. Greer is looking for true love and seems to be expecting it to just drop into her lap.

There were a lot of things going on in this story. Greer had turned down a marriage proposal from a boy she grew up with and her parents are still guilting her about it. Now he and his new fiance have come to Charleston and end up in the same contest as Greer. Greer is also helping a client get her career as a designer off the ground and helping her reconnect with the man she loves. Ford has family issues with an older brother who is an addict in addition to his pregnant ex-fiance. He also suffers from a lot of doubt about his talent as an artist.

Fans of romances will enjoy this story.

Favorite Quote:
He laughed. "Just this morning, you were a stranger in a coffee house."

"And you were a man in a plaid jacket who was highly distracting at an auction."

"What are we going to be to each other now?" he asked her softly.

And they both knew: lovers.
